Monday, I had the opportunity to attend a Janie’s Fund event at Lincoln Center. While many people may have heard of “Janie’s Got a Gun” by Steven Tyler, many people don’t know about Steven Tyler’s Janie’s Fund, a philanthropic venture trying to help abused and neglected girls. In the 1980s when Steven Tyler was in recovery, he heard stories from abused women. He also learned how abused girls are more likely to turn to drugs later in life. The stories of abuse inspired Steven Tyler to write “Janie’s Got a Gun”.

Janie’s Fund operates under a belief in holistic, trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches to help children overcome the trauma of abuse and neglect. Contributions to the fund go towards Youth Villages, which focuses on trauma-informed care and works to build a stable, loving family around a child. To make a donation or to learn more about Janie’s fund, you can go to the Janie’s Fund website.

Thank you Status Luxury Group for tickets to this event.
